EDP was founded in Portugal as one of the world’s largest suppliers of electricity and gas. Today it is present in 14 countries and supplies 10 million customers with 1.2 million gas points. Enerbrain and EDP worked together to make more efficient a 4 floors air-conditioned office building in Coimbra, Portugal.

Project

After an initial phase of reconnaissance and monitoring of the air conditioning system, it was decided to intervene on the control of ventilation at night. Comfort during working hours is also monitored, providing useful data to company managers through the Enerbrain dashboard. The overall goal of the work done by Enerbrain was to ensure the right level of indoor air quality at the workers’ entrance in the early morning hours, reducing the electricity consumption for excess ventilation. Environmental sensors were installed for monitoring and actuators for dynamic regulation of the systems. By adjusting the systems at night, significant energy savings were achieved.
